We are always looking to share our laboratories and are happy to work together and learn something new. If you would like to be considered for a position with our group, please do write us. We are open to formal association in the capacity of a student intern, graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, or a visiting researcher. If you prefer something more informal, we are happy to do whatever is possible. In order to help us know you better, and appreciate the nature of your interest in our group, we request you to consider including the following documents:
- A cover letter detailing your research interests, how you might benefit from working with us, and in what capacity you wish to be considered.
- Curriculum Vitae
- For formal appointments, please obtain permission from, and share contact details of at least three referees whom we may contact on your behalf.
Formal appointments are naturally subject to funding availability and OIST regulations. Details of formal appointments we are currently able to consider are provided below.
Postdoctoral Fellowships
We currently have no postdoctoral openings. However, should you be interested in pursuing postdoctoral research opportunities in areas we work in, we request you to consider being funded through a fellowship from the JSPS, HFSP and such. Some countries also offer fellowships for their citizens to undertake postdoctoral research abroad.
If you are interested in our work, please contact Mahesh directly at bandi at oist dot jp.
Student Interns
These positions are typically short-term for periods not exceeding 6 months. OIST has a formal campus-wide Student Internship Program. We request you to direct your inquiries and applications to the OIST Graduate School.
Graduate Students
If you are a graduate student enrolled at OIST, and would like to conduct your dissertation research with our group, please write or better, drop by for a chat. If you're a student elsewhere and want to do your PhD research with our group, you must apply and get admitted to OIST's PhD program. For details, please refer to the OIST Graduate School's PhD admissions webpages.
Visiting Researcher
If you are interested in spending some time collaborating with us as a visiting researcher or wish to spend a sabbatical with our group, please write Mahesh about the specific nature of your interest. Some opportunities such as the OIST Theoretical Sciences Visitor Program, US Fullbright Scholar Program or JSPS visitor program can help with support. Some countries also offer support in the form of sabbatical or travel fellowships for their researchers to spend brief periods working abroad. Any appointment will be in accordance with OIST policies and procedures.
