OIST today launched a new section of the website aimed at making the university’s articles, photos, videos, and other content more visible and accessible.

Now wrapping up its ninth annual session, the Okinawa Computational Neuroscience Course has earned a reputation as one of the best short neuroscience courses in the world.

On Wednesday, June 20, the Nishimatsu construction company handed the new Lab 2 building over to OIST.

On Saturday, June 16, Prof. David Daley of the University of Nottingham delivered a public lecture at OIST on parenting children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). About 500 people attended the talk.

OIST had an action-packed few days last week as it hosted meetings of its Board of Governors and Board of Councilors, followed by a press conference; held two performances to commemorate the opening of the new auditorium; and welcomed the First Ladies of Pacific island nations for a visit.

On May 22, OIST President Jonathan Dorfan and Okinawa National College of Technology President Shigeru Ito signed an agreement of cooperation between the two institutions.

Prof. Maruyama opened a series of workshops in which invited experts will give lectures and hands-on demonstrations on how to use some of OIST’s top-of-the-line microscopes.

Jerome Friedman, a Nobel Laureate in physics who is a member of OIST’s Board of Governors, spoke to students at Kaiho High School on May 23.
