Animal Resources Section

Mission

The Animal Resources Section (ARS) within the Core Facilities provides support for animal care and animal research.

Our state-of-the art animal facilities are accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC International).

We have dedicated laboratories for studying animal development, behavior and neuroimaging. In 2016, we opened a marine station at Seragaki harbor, allowing the collection and study of local marine species.

ARS staff contribute to offer high quality laboratory animals (Mammal, Avian, Reptile, Amphibian, Fishes, and Cephalopod) to facilitate high quality results (high reproducibility) in animal experiments carried out at OIST.
