We provide shared High Performance Computing (HPC) and centrally managed data storage at OIST. The section offers large capacity and secure computing resources; consulting; training and support to OIST researchers. This enables efficient data acquisition, generation, storage, processing, analysis, and visualisation to enhance the scientific output from their computational research projects.
High-capacity, reliable networking is foundational to this mission, so we also provide all networking services throughout the OIST campus and beyond.
Our Services
High-Performance Computing Systems and Storage
We provide high-performance computing and large-capacity storage for research use. Our main cluster, named "Deigo", is a CPU-only system with 65K cores and 512GB memory per node. Our GPU system, "Saion", has 34 GPU nodes with a mix of A100, V100 and P100 GPUs. We also offer large-memory nodes; Fujitsu A64fx-based ARM nodes; and other special-purpose systems.
We also provide high-capacity storage with off-site backups for all research data as well as high-performance storage for compute and special-purpose systems for efficient data transfer and management. We also offer cloud systems for research computing and research data management end-to-end support.
Software, Visualization, Training and other Services
We provide a scientific data visualisation service for exploratory research, publications and scientific promotions. Make your papers look better than ever before!
We also provide centrally licensed scientific software, for lower cost and ease of management. And we encourage and support the use of open source in research activities whenever possible.
Our systems are only useful if you can actually use them, So we provide support, training, documentation and one-on-one consultations on how to best use the research computing resources we offer.
Campus-Wide Networking
Networking is absolutely critical not just for HPC systems but for all research activity. We manage the campus-wide data networks, the data-center network systems and redundant connections to the outside world. We maintain effective integration of your researcher environments with the computing and storage systems and with the national and international research systems around the world.
