The OIST Innovation Accelerator is not your traditional accelerator program. It’s a competitive 10-month entrepreneurship residency program designed to support entrepreneurial scientists and researchers, turning their science and technology into market-based solutions. The Accelerator fuses R&D, venture building, and traction building into a structured program that validates Problem-Solution Fit, generates Proof-of-Business (PoB), and signals investment worthiness for their next growth stage.
As Okinawa's first global startup accelerator program, the OIST Innovation Accelerator gives entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world a unique chance to explore and pave their entry into the Japanese market via OIST in Okinawa.
Each year, we invite entrepreneurs to Okinawa, provide them with up to 10,000,000 Japanese yen in funding, structured coaching, and facilitate introductions to partners and early-stage investors. They also gain access to the state-of-the-art lab facilities and specialized equipment at OIST for R&D geared towards customer-facing output (i.e. MVP, prototypes, demos).
