OIST promotes entrepreneurship to advance high-growth venture creation in Okinawa. We organize seminars and workshops to strengthen networks and stimulate entrepreneurial activities. Beyond these promotional events, we also directly support promising projects stemming from OIST research. We also provide extensive support to startups through programs, events, facilities and services including the OIST Innovation Accelerator and OIST Innovation Incubator. We support and recruit early stage startups with innovative technologies aiming to solve global challenges.
Startup Support
Accelerator Program
The OIST Innovation Accelerator is not your traditional accelerator program. We are an entrepreneurship training program, a bootcamp competition, and a startup incubator all rolled into one. We offer an entirely unique environment for the world's most innovative entrepreneurs to launch their startup companies.
Incubator
The OIST Innovation Incubator is an incubation facility for early-stage deep-tech startups, equipped with shared offices, shared equipment, and shared laboratories. It provides an environment for entrepreneurs to assess the potential of their businesses and develop prototypes. Additionally, it serves as a community space for innovation.
Entrepreneurship Program
At OIST, to foster entrepreneurial spirit among researchers, external lecturers are invited to regularly hold basic courses on entrepreneurship.
Mentoring Service
The OIST Innovation VMS supports entrepreneurs by connecting them with seasoned professionals. Our program provides continuous guidance and mentoring to develop leadership skills and offer practical advice for entrepreneurs at any stage.
Venture Capital Fund
The OIST-Lifetime Ventures Fund is managed by Lifetime Ventures in collaboration with OIST to invest in world-class entrepreneurs, leveraging OIST research and network in Japan, and globally. We aim to deliver impactful science-based deep tech solutions in sectors that include healthtech, the future of work, sustainable living, and the blue economy.
