Rules on Shohei Suzuki Research Safety Fund

(Establishment)
Article 1 Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology School Corporation (herein after “OIST) establishes Shohei Suzuki Research Safety Fund (herein after “Fund”).

(Purpose)
Article 2 The Fund is established in memory of our colleague Dr. Shohei Suzuki. The purpose is to promote research safety awareness and training at OIST and enable students and junior researchers or technicians from OIST to undertake fieldwork while developing the necessary skills including research safety training.
 
(Activities)
Article 3 The Fund conducts following activities to achieve the purpose in the previous article.
(1) Safety awareness building activities at OIST
(2) Provision of training opportunities for those who engage in field work
(3) Other special activities that are deemed appropriate
 
(Committee)
Article 4 In order to deliberate important business related to the Fund, Shohei Suzuki Research Safety Fund Committee (herein after “Committee”) is formed.
2. The Provost plays the role of the chair.
3. The Committee members are as follow.
(1) Dean for Faculty Affairs
(2) Vice President for Finance Management
(3) Vice President for Communication and Public Relations
(4) Assistant Provost for Administration
(5) External member
4. When the chair cannot perform the role, a committee member designated by the chair in advance will act for the chair.
5. The Committee will deliberate the following items.
(1) Business plan
(2) Budget and Accounting of the Fund
(3) Business report
(4) Acceptance of funds
(5) Acknowledgement to the donors
(6) Any other items related to the operation of the Fund
6. The Committee reports the result of the deliberation to the President.
7. Occupational Health and Safety Section provides support on meetings and travel arrangements for the committee members.
 
(Establishment and operation of funds)
Article 5 Donations and its profit will be used for the establishment and operation of the Fund.

(Fiscal Year)
Article 6 The fiscal year of the Fund is from April 1 to March 31 of the next year.
 
(Business report)
Article 7 The Committee will make a business plan and a business report in each fiscal year and report them to the president. 
 
(Administrations)
Article 8 Office of the Provost administers the operation of the Fund. The President Office administer the handling of donations.

Supplementary Provision
These rules are effective from April 1, 2017 (Partial revision as of April 1, 2019)
