OIST and Toshiba Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Collaborative Research
Joint Press Release - Tokyo and Okinawa- The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology School Corporation (“OIST”) and Toshiba Corporation (“Toshiba”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 29, 2023, under which they will promote personnel and technological exchanges and carry advanced research in fields including the realization of carbon neutrality, quantum transformation, and other areas of interest to both organizations.
OIST is a graduate university with a diverse community of researchers and students from around the world. By bringing together global experts across science and technology, OIST aims to drive innovation through cross-disciplinary collaboration. Toshiba is a world leader in the research and development of advanced technologies in areas that include quantum technology, next-generation computing, and carbon neutrality. The MOU calls for combining OIST's strengths in interdisciplinary research with Toshiba's expertise in a wide range of technologies, toward quickly developing practical solutions to complex technological problems, and creating value through technological diversity. In addition, Toshiba and OIST will contribute broadly to the advancement of Japanese academia and the competitiveness of Japanese industry by fostering the next generation of innovators through joint cutting-edge research and exchanges of human resources and technologies.

- Create testbeds that serve Toshiba’s needs as well as match OIST and Okinawa
