Diagram of a Purkinje neuron

Neurons typically consist of a cell body or ‘soma’, dendrites and axon. The dendrites are branched structures that receive signals from other neurons, while axons transmit signals to other neurons. Purkinje neurons have the most extensive dendritic branching of all neurons in the brain.
