SEED program: Miyazaki Prefectural Miyazaki Nishi High school students visited OIST.
Miyazaki Nishi High School students from Miyazaki Prefecture visited OIST.
On the first day, three students from Nonlinear and Non-equilibrium Physics Unit introduced their laboratory and gave lectures on how each student plans and conducts his/her own research. The students then presented their research activities in English and received feedback from OIST PhD students in the same unit.
The second day began with a career talk and lecture on his research by Johannes Wibisana (Genomics and Regulatory Systems Unit), as well as a lab tour and hands-on activities. Students then participated in a campus tour.
In the afternoon, the students visited the lab of Professor Mahesh Bandi (Nonlinear and Non-equilibrium Physics Unit) in person and were divided into groups for hands-on experimental practice. Through the research experience, the students were able to experience how to characterize phenomena and link them to theory.
