Children's Kasumigaseki Tour Day 2024 (OIST Kids Lecture)
On August 7th and 8th, OIST held science outreach activities for children at the Cabinet Office in Tokyo as part of the "Kids' Kasumigaseki Tour Days." We welcomed approximately 160 participants, including around 80 students and their parents. Over the two days, Dr. Fabienne Ziadi from the OIST Nonlinear and Non-equilibrium Physics Unit gave four times lectures entitled "Welcome to the World of Sharks!" where she spoke about shark ecology and environmental conservation. After each lecture, there was a hands-on session that allowed participants to touch and observe preserved sharks, which everyone seemed to enjoy.The event received high marks in a survey of attendees and won the "Director-General's Prize", which is given for second place.
