Monday October 7th, 2024 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM
Seminar Room C209 - Center Bldg

Description

Prof. Kentaro Somiya from Tokyo Tech

Prof Somiya has various interests - all related to gravity wave detection. These include experiment and theory related to:

  • Development of advanced interferometers
  • Quantum noise analysis
  • Thermal noise analysis
  • Macroscopic quantum measurement

Prof Somiya is deeply involved in KAGRA - Japan's Gravity Wave Observatory and has interests in novel schemes for the precision detection of gravity waves. In this talk Prof Somiya will give a brief overview of the various research directions his group is undertaking in Tokyo Tech University towards the development of ultra-precise sensing in gravity wave detection.

Prof Somiya's Brief CV
