  • Quantum neural networks and their complexity
  • Quantum computation with Big Data

The compensation is in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations and depends on the time since graduation.

Where

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is a dynamic new graduate university in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. The campus is striking architecturally, and the facilities are outstanding (OIST campus video tour). There are no academic departments, which facilitates multidisciplinary research. Outstanding resources and equipment are provided and managed to encourage easy access and collaboration. You will join the Quantum Information Science and Technology Unit led by Kae Nemoto at OIST.

Who

We are seeking candidates with excellent post-graduate academic background in theoretical quantum information science and technology or computer science/AI or neural networks with a strength in mathematics, with research experience in a topic of relevance to the role. Candidates must have a PhD at the time of commencing the position. Ideal candidates will be curious, creative, highly motivated and able to work independently. They will also have good communication and interpersonal skills. The Quantum Information Science and Technology Unit fosters a respectful, constructive and inclusive working culture and environment. The postdoctoral scholars will work together and in cooperation with Kae to engage in creative, curiosity-driven research in quantum science and technology-related areas at OIST. They are expected to pursue to engage in creative, curiosity-driven research, and are encouraged to develop their own independent interests, as well as collaborate with existing group members and the quantum ecosystem at OIST, as well as external collaborators. In addition, all unit members are expected to support the training and mentorship of students and other unit staff. Staff scientists are expected to pursue their own research agenda with a high level of independence.
