Fried Unit Image Featured on the Cover of the Journal of Fluid Mechanics

An image created by the Mathematics, Mechanics, and Materials Unit is being featured on the cover of the November issue of the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. The image is part of a paper published in this journal titled "Effect of a surface tension imbalance on a partly submerged cylinder."

The image itself depicts an acrylic glass water bath used to observe the mechanical forces acting on a cylinder submerged in water, with surfactant added on one side, and absent on the other.
