Dear Colleagues at Universities and Research Institutes affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake

We express our deep sorrow and sympathy for the people who have been affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. We pray that those suffering from this tragedy will soon receive relief from the devastation that followed the earthquake and the tsunami. Many universities and research institutes are having great difficulty continuing their research activities; some programs are totally crippled.

We at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) are fortunate to have been spared the impacts of this disaster and we stand ready to help our colleagues in distress.  We are contacting several institutions whose restoration needs are well matched to our resources.  We are working with these institutions to provide them  relief in meaningful ways.
