Ring and Hold-and-Release models of Cohesin Structure

These diagrams compare the two models of the cohesin protein’s structure. The ring model has distinct “head” and “hinge” features at opposite ends of the molecule, whereas the hold-and-release model suggests these features are located next to one another, which would mean the protein could hold DNA like a pair of pincers.
