Daniel Rokhsar

Daniel Rokhsar is a Professor of Physics and Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He began as a condensed matter physicist, before turning to physics related problems in the biological sciences, like how proteins fold. This led to an interest in the computational aspects of genomics and eventually, involvement with the Human Genome Project. Professor Rokhsar has been a real pioneer in genome-decoding projects of various multicellular organisms and is considered a world leading expert in this field.
