Description

A physics lecture for borderline-physicists.
Title: Electromagnetism from Spacetime Algebra.
Speaker: Yasha Neiman.

We'll offer homage to the great William Clifford and his invention of Geometric Algebra. We'll talk about electromagnetism in an alternative-history fashion, as it would be taught in school had Clifford's ideas triumphed. By complete coincidence, the talk will also follow key junctions in my physics journey from high-school to OIST.

Features:
1. The true nature of the magnetic field (it's not a vector!), and its rotational effect on particle motion.
2. How doing the same to the electric field leads into spacetime and Special Relativity.
3. There is only one Maxwell equation.
4. Light.
5. Spinors, twistors, and my first paper at OIST.
