Title: "BMS algebra from Virasoro algebras"

Abstract: Based on my recent work, I will talk about a way of achieving BMS algebra out of an independent pair of Virasoro algebras. Those algebras appear as asymptotic symmetries of three-dimensional gravity with/without cosmological constant, equivalently asymptotically AdS/flat spacetime. Whereas asymptotically flat spacetime shall be regarded as asymptotically AdS spacetime with taking a limit of vanishing cosmological constant, the procedure involves some subtlety. A similar subtlety is carried over to the algebraic structure, which I will describe in some detail.
