Assessment & Data Collection

Tripp Interview

If your family has a child age 6-12 with symptoms of ADHD

Contact us to schedule a phone screening interview.

If our assessment is appropriate for your child, parents are asked to complete questionnaires and participate in an interview.

With parent's permission, we also ask teachers to complete questionnaires about the child’s social interactions, behavior, and academic performance.

To complete the comprehensive research assessment, the child needs to be fluent in English and to have completed a significant proportion of their education in English. However, bilingual support is provided if a parent or teacher is Japanese-speaking.

  • Each session usually lasts 2~3 hours.
  • An interview and detailed assessments (IQ, academic achievement, memory, language, problem-solving, social skills) are administered.
  • Children are also asked to complete computer games, which are experimental tasks to assess their responses to reinforcements such as winning and losing points.
  • A summary report and explanation of assessment results will be provided during a feedback session.

*Please note that while the assessment-based research opportunities are not available for Japanese families, we have other opportunities, including parent support programs.

Tripp Research Task

If your child doesn't not have characteristics of ADHD and would like to try our research tasks and help us advance knowledge

Please contact us!

We have a range of research tasks that children often enjoy.  Be part of exciting scientific discovery and help us advance our knowledge.

Taking part will involve:

Your child completing an abbreviated assessment of their cognitive (thinking) and memory skills, and parent(s) completing questionnaires about their child’s behavior.

The time involved in taking part will depend on the number of projects you and your child decide to participate in. Your child would work with our team for 1 ½ to 2 hoursat the OIST Children’s Research Center in Onna over 1 or more sessions (depending of the number of projects).

We will work with you to find a convenient time for you and your child to visit our Center!
