Recreation Services provides OIST members with an inclusive and equitable opportunity to participate, educate, compete, and volunteer in recreational and cultural activities as a means to enhance health and well-being. Recreation Services will provide ALL OIST members opportunities for physical, social, and cultural involvement.

The OIST Resource Center is a place for OIST members, including family, to come for advice and assistance with services like transportation and childcare, healthcare, banking, community information exchange, campus and local events, and any other support they require for living in Okinawa.

The Village Office staff supports residents with issues related to their housing at OIST, as well as directions for shopping and other local services, as well as assistance with dry cleaning pickup and delivery. They also serve as an information center for campus and local events.
The OIST gym, located in the Village Center, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round. Any OIST employee or student or family member thereof who registers and attends a training session can use treadmills, elliptical trainers, spin bikes, weight machines, free weights, exercise mats, and other resources. The gym also includes a water cooler and showers for users who live off campus. Students can use the gym for free; employees pay 400 yen per use, up to 4,000 yen per month.

The Village Center includes a 24-hour coin laundry with washers and dryers or use by residents of the Village. Dry cleaning pickup and delivery is also available in the Village Office.
The Meeting Room in the Village Center is a multipurpose area with hardwood floors used for everything from Japanese calligraphy classes to kickboxing to birthday parties.
With a foosball table, TV, sofa, and dart boards, the lounge is a good place to refresh and socialize.
The Village Center Kitchen can be used by any OIST member or their family, but it is particularly suited for making big meals for parties and cultural events to bring together Village residents. Reserve the kitchen (OIST login required).
The Ocean View Room in the Village Center is the second multipurpose room in the village center which can be reserved for community activities.
