Technician Position in Centrosome Dynamics and Evolution Group

The position

The Centrosome Dynamics and Evolution Group aims to understand the evolution of molecular mechanisms of the centrosome, a central organelle required for cell division. We employ complementary approaches using the roundworm C. elegans and human cell culture, biochemistry, and gene engineering. (Midori Ohta | Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology OIST).

We are seeking to recruit a full-time technician for laboratory management and experimental support.

Responsibilities
  1. Work with the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans and human cell culture, plasmid construction, and biochemical approaches (protein purification, Western blots, immunoprecipitation).
  2. Management of reagents, consumables, and equipment
Qualifications

(Required)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related subject
  2. Experience with molecular biology
  3. Team spirit and collaborative personality
  4. Communication in English
Compensation and Benefits

For Staff Scientist and Technician:
Expected Annual Salary: 3M – 7Myen
Model Base Salary: 4.5Myen/year (10th year since master’s degree)


*This amount represents the expected annual salary range for this position, which will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills and background in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulation

Employment Term

Full-time, the position is initially for one year with a 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed based on performance and mutual agreement.

9:00-17:30 (Discretionary)

Saturday, Sunday, National holidays, and Year-end and New Year holidays (Dec. 29 – Jan. 3)

Overtime work hours
Discretionary Working Hours System:
In the discretionary labor system for specialized work, the employee shall be deemed to have worked 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
