Postdoctoral Researcher, Networked Quantum Devices Unit

The position

We offer two postdoctoral researcher positions in quantum information theory. Depending on seniority, the hire can be at the level of staff scientist. Potential research topics include the following:
-    Quantum communications and quantum networking theory.
-    Quantum cryptography.
-    Quantum error correction, in particular in connection with modular quantum computation.

Responsibilities

1.    Actively contribute to the research agenda of the unit in collaboration with the unit PI.
2.    Disseminate the research results in journals and conferences.
3.    Co-supervise students when required.
4.    Participate in unit seminars and meetings.
5.    Coordinate unit tasks such as weekly unit seminars, unit website update, yearly report or unit outings.
 

Qualifications

(Required)
1.    PhD in computer science, mathematics or physics.
2.    Excellent track record demonstrated by publications or talks in top venues.


(Preferred)
1.    Experience supervising students.
2.    Programming experience.
 

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations

The compensation is in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations and depends on the time after graduation.

For postdoctoral scholars the annual base salary is in the range of 4.5M - 5.9 M yen.

Employment Term

Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 2 years. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed by taking into consideration the performance, conduct, and behavior of the Employee and OIST’s financial and other circumstances.

Discretionary Working Hours System:
In the discretionary labor system for specialized work, the employee shall be deemed to have worked 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
