Information Security Engineer
Come join our highly capable information security team in enabling OIST's world leading research, education, and the promotion of Okinawa! This key role will see the candidate work with stakeholders from across the university to develop and monitor information security countermeasures and infrastructures, defending against emerging and highly sophisticated cyber security attacks that could severely impact OIST. Through education and communication, the candidate will also further information security readiness, better protecting our information assets. Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) this position will work as part of the information security team to support the OIST information security program and provide backup for the CISO when absent.
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University was established in 2011 to contribute to the development of science and technology worldwide and to serve as a hub of innovation in Okinawa. OIST is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan which offers a 5-year PhD program and brings together outstanding researchers from across the country and across disciplines to conduct cutting-edge scientific research.

- Develop, deploy, and manage solutions to support the OIST information security program, including a modern SIEM, EDR tools and other AI enabled solutions.
- Monitor compliance for all systems within the OIST information security monitoring program.
- Rapidly and appropriately respond to information security incidents, including the detailed analysis of logs, alerts or other information required.
- Work within the team as well as with internal and external stakeholders to track information security risks and ensure they are addressed or mitigated as agreed.
- Deliver stakeholder focused scheduled and ad-hoc reports and presentations on information security status or incidents as required.
- Support education and information security awareness and training activities.
- Handle other information security inquiries and matters as required.
- Support CISO to plan, draft, implement, update and manage relevant information security strategies, policies, rules, and workflows as required.

- Four years of relevant technical experience in IT, Risk, Information Security, or a combination of these
- BS in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent experiences.
- Business Level English (TOIEC 850)
(Preferred)
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA
- Fluent Japanese (JLPT 1 or Native)
- Experience in handling Microsoft 365 and/or SIEM products
- Experience of working in an international environment
Expected Annual Salary: 5.8 million -10 million yen
*This amount represents the expected annual salary range for this position, which will be determined based on your experience and skills in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.

Full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive).
