The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology(OIST : see www.oist.jp ) is a graduate university in Okinawa Prefecture that specializes in science and technology with the goal of becoming an innovative model. OIST is a rapidly expanding organization that continues to hire many mid-career professionals each year. Therefore, the accounting section needs to focus on establishing rules and systems and disseminating them to the field. Therefore, we would like to hire a person who not only has practical accounting skills, but also good communication skills and an awareness of the need to build better business operations.
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University was established in 2011 to contribute to the development of science and technology worldwide and to serve as a hub of innovation in Okinawa. OIST is a dynamic new graduate university of science and technology in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan which offers a 5-year PhD program and brings together outstanding researchers from across the country and across disciplines to conduct cutting-edge scientific research.
The university is located on 85 hectares of protected forestland overlooking a beautiful shoreline and coral reefs. The campus is striking architecturally, and the facilities are outstanding. To facilitate multidisciplinary research, there are no academic departments. Outstanding resources and equipment are provided and managed to encourage easy access and collaboration.

- General accounting work (accounts payable processing, checking invoices, etc., entering into accounting system, organizing vouchers, etc.)
- Operation and input of accounting system
- Maintenance of accounting and other related rules, manuals, etc.
- Preparation for and response to on-site inspections and various audits by the Board of Audit, etc.
- Operations related to the automation of accounting processes, paperless processing, and other efficiency-enhancing measures
- Other related accounting work
* Job rotation within the financial divisions may be conducted from the viewpoint of staff's capacity development, etc.
(Required)
- PC skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Self-motivated, self-sufficient, and a good communicator
- TOEIC Score 600 level English and Native level Japanese
(Preferred)
- At least 2 years of working experience in accounting or financial closing
- Accounting knowledge of Japanese commercial bookkeeping level 2
- Experience in using ERP system
- Working experience at an accounting firm or tax accountant's office
- Experience in handling audits, etc.
- Experience working in an English-speaking work environment
Expected Annual Salary: 3,000,000– 6,500,000yen
*This amount represents the expected annual salary range for this position, which will be determined based on your experience and skills in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.

Full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed by taking into consideration the performance evaluation, conduct, and behavior of the Employee and OIST’s financial and other circumstances.
Scheduled Working hours: 9:00 – 17:30
Rest period: 12:00 – 13:00
Flextime (core time 10:00-15:00) 7.5hrs per day (Multiplied by prescribed working days per month)
Holidays
Saturday, Sunday, National holidays, and Year-end and New Year holidays (Dec. 29 – Jan. 3)
