Generous Donation

OIST is very grateful for a generous gift from the Kakazu family.  On March 15, 2012, Mr. Iwao Kakazu and Mr. Tsuyoshi Kakazu handed the donation to OIST President Jonathan Dorfan in memory of their mother Mrs. Takako Kakazu, who was a strong supporter of the OIST vision. This is the first donation by individuals to the university since the establishment of the OIST Graduate University last November. A plaque will be fixed to the wall bordering the entrance to the campus.  The inscription on the plaque reads:

“This plaque marks the generous donation by Mr. Iwao Kakazu and Mr. Tsuyoshi Kakazu on March 15, 2012, in memory of their mother Mrs. Takako Kakazu.  This constitutes the founding donation for the President’s Fund.

Future donations will also be recognized by plaques on the same wall, which will become a ‘Wall of Honor’ recognizing the generosity of individuals and organizations that have contributed to OIST.
