Title

Skyrmion crystals and their relatives in SU(3) chiral magnets

Abstract

SU(N) magnets have been experimentally realized using ultracold atoms in an optical lattice. Theoretically, it has been proposed that spin-orbit coupling of cold atoms can be induced by applying laser beams to them [1]. Spin-I spin-orbit-coupled Bose gases in an optical lattice can be seen as SU(2I+1) magnets with a generalized Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, i.e., SU(2I+1) chiral magnets [2]. These magnets are expected to have a rich phase structure due to their large degrees of freedom. 
In this talk, we will study the ground state structure of SU(3) chiral magnets and show that they exhibit various exotic phases, for example, CP^2 Skyrmion crystal, CP^2 Skyrmionium crystal and CP^2 Helical phase. We also discuss properties of the phases using topological charge, dipole- (quadrupole-)structure factor, and configurational entropy, which is a field theoretical generalization of Shannon entropy [3].
