A Talk by Sachiko Tsuda : Spatiotemporal dynamics of cerebellar Purkinje cell population and its development
Description
Abstract : The cerebellum integrates multiple information for motor control, learning, and cognition. To understand the information processing in the cerebellar neuronal populations and their development, we examined the spatiotemporal dynamics of Purkinje cells in the whole cerebellum, focusing on cerebellar compartments. By performing whole-cerebellum calcium imaging and behavior analysis in zebrafish larvae, we identified the clustered behavior of the Purkinje cell population and their change with development. Furthermore, to examine the dynamics of the neuronal populations in more detail, we applied voltage imaging to zebrafish. Using genetically encoded voltage indicators, we have successfully visualized the emergence and changes of coordinated activity of the spinal cord neurons during development and depolarizations in cerebellar neurons. In this talk, I will also introduce our recent approaches focusing on the collective behavior of fish groups.
