【Seminar】Introduction of pulsed power engineering and discharge plasma in supercritical fluids
Description
Speaker:
Dr. Tomohiro Furusato, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology, Nagasaki University
Title:
Introduction of pulsed power engineering and discharge plasma in supercritical fluids
Abstract:
This seminar introduces pulsed power engineering and discharge plasma phenomena in supercritical fluids. Pulsed power technology compresses energy in time and space to generate high electric fields, shock waves, ultraviolet rays, and plasma. Pulsed power is used in a variety of industrial applications, including environmental purification, medical, electronics, and agricultural and food applications. On the other hand, supercritical fluids are generally known as environmentally friendly solvents and are used in extraction, cleaning, sterilization, decomposition, and other applications. The lecturer was the first in the world to succeed in generating plasma using pulsed power in a supercritical fluid and is currently developing plasma diagnostic methods. In this seminar, he will present the results of shock wave observations and plasma diagnostics in supercritical CO2, as well as the possibility of new applications.
