Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Postdoctoral Scholar, Evolution and Synthetic Biology Unit

The position

We are looking for a molecular / synthetic biologist to join Evolutionary and Synthetic Biology Unit at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST). You will study fitness landscapes in microbial systems using combinatorial DNA libraries, evolution experiments, sequencing, and machine learning.

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University was established in 2011 to contribute to the development of science and technology worldwide and to serve as a hub of innovation in Okinawa. Responsibilities

Candidates should hold a PhD in microbiology, genetics, biotechnology or related field. Comprehensive knowledge of molecular biology, expertise in microbiology, DNA work (including modern cloning methods), and heterologous expression (and quantitation thereof) in microbes is a must. Experience with combinatorial DNA libraries, genome editing, barcoded lineage tracing, assay automation, and/or coding skills are highly desired. In the discretionary labor system for specialized work, the employee shall be deemed to have worked 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
