Green Okinawa: a Practical Guide for Eco-friendly Island Living
Green Okinawa is a community initiative to help OIST members be more environmentally friendly in Okinawa. By sharing practical and actionable information, the project aims to help everyone feel empowered to reduce their environmental footprint and protect our planet from climate change. The Green Okinawa webpage provides an inventory of useful eco-friendly services such as second-hand furniture stores, repair shops, ways to donate or sell used clothes, bike sharing schemes and public transport links. It also shares a wide range of practical suggestions for living a greener lifestyle, from information on household recycling, to advice on commuting to OIST via bicycle, to tips on keeping cool in the Okinawan summer without melting the polar ice caps.
Green Okinawa is spearheaded by the OIST Resource Center team and volunteers. The webpage is regularly updated based on information and suggestions from the OIST community.
