Tetrahedral Lattice of Spin Ice
Tetrahedral Lattice of Spin Ice: On each point of a tetrahedron rests an atom. Within the atom, the electrons have aligned their spins in the direction of the arrow -- two spins pointing into the centre of each tetrahedron and two pointing outward. In the diagram, the yellow circle with a dot on the exemplary tetrahedron in the upper left corner indicates an arrow pointing towards the viewer. The dotted lines specify tetrahedra that are pointing away from the viewer and the solid lines mean they are pointing towards the viewer. Drawing by: Ludovic Jaubert
