Developmental Neurobiology Unit Identifies New Regulator of Lens Differentiation
A new paper from the Developmental Neurobiology Unit has been published in Development.
Led by prinicipal investigator Prof. Ichiro Masai, the study describes a novel mechanism responsible for regulating lens fiber differentiation in the developing eye -- one that is independent of the process' primary driver, fibroblast growth factor. The research identifies VPS45, an endocytic trafficking factor, as essential to ensuring equator-specific onset of lens fiber differentiation.
