OIST Science 100 Symposium
Description
OIST Science 100 Symposium: Mapping OIST's Scientific Expansion to 100 PIs.
The symposium has two important and interlinked components: exploring OIST's current standing from faculty’s perspectives and connecting with OIST’s research community to exchange ideas and feedback about the future direction of science.
With the opening of Lab 5, OIST has entered the second decade and a transitional phase to chart future growth. To facilitate this, a Science Strategy Steering Committee was formed in February of this year to guide the process, focusing on the short-term target of having 100 PIs by 2026. The committee, along with the Faculty Spokespersons of the 8 Science Groups that cover all scientific fields at OIST, has held eight meetings until now to discuss crucial guiding questions, exchange ideas on future direction of science for OIST for 130-150 PIs, and share findings. An overview of their assessment will be shared at the OIST Science 100 Symposium.
"I strongly encourage you to register and take part in this symposium, as your contribution is essential for driving forward OIST's research and collaboration, and ultimately achieving the university mission." -Albrecht Wagner
