Japan from the Land of the Gods to the land of convenience: Cycles of Japanese history
This is the first in a series about Japanese and Okinawan history. It looks at Japanese history in total, from the very beginnings to our times, trying to identify significant epochs and the patterns of change which occur - arguably - rather not like in a linear model but in cycles. The talk will be accompanied by PPT slides and illustrations, and also provide hints as to where are important historical places in Japan that might merit a visit. Interaction and discussion is very much welcome.
