Dr. George Iwama (63), the former Executive Vice President of OIST became the President and Vice Chancellor of Quest University in Canada. The announcement was made public on August 25th webpage of the Quest University.
Dr. Iwama was born in Naha and raised in Ginowan before he moved to Canada at the age of 17. He obtained Ph.D. in zoology from the British Columbian University in Canada, and then took the positions such as Director of Marine Biology Institute of National Research Council of Canada, Dean of Science Department at Carlton University and Acadia University, etc.
Since January 2014 till the end of June 2016, he had been the Executive Vice President at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technologies.
“I feel very honored to be offered the position of the President at a wonderful university where a number of excelled Ph.D. researchers belong to,” commented Dr. Iwama.
