Title

Constrained limits of classical frustrated Ising models from tensor networks

Abstract

Classical frustrated Ising models often give rise to exotic emergent phases due to their macroscopic ground-state degeneracy. The partition function of short-range models can be written as the contraction of a tensor network, modulo a non-trivial transformation that allows standard tensor network algorithms to converge [1]. Here, I would like to introduce this approach on the triangular lattice Ising antiferromagnet with and without a magnetic field, recovering well-known results and exploring how the Potts critical line approaches the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in this model [2]. Then, I will discuss a
farther-neighbor kagome lattice Ising model, partially motivated by artificial spin systems, where three macroscopically degenerate ground state phases can be found [3]. I will focus in particular on an interesting limit where we observe plateaus in a string order parameter [4].
